KBR Adds Tire Recycling to Advanced Technology Portfolio

Publish date

TyreNovaSM technology is a step towards advanced recycling solutions

Over one billion waste tires reach end-of-life throughout the world each year – a figure that is projected to rise steadily. To counter this global challenge, tire pyrolysis is emerging as a critical and sustainable solution. Staying true to its sustainability pledge, KBR has entered into a strategic alliance with Klean Industries, a pioneer in advanced tire recycling technologies with decades of experience, to jointly market, license and deliver TyreNovaSM, a modularized tire recycling solution for end-of-life tires.

TyreNovaSM is a commercially proven and patented proprietary technology, which produces tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) and recovers carbon black (rCB) as ready to offtake products. KBR will be Klean’s exclusive licensing partner for designing and delivering integrated tire recycling solutions on a global basis. In addition, KBR will also undertake studies and provide proprietary engineering, technical services, proprietary equipment and modular solutions for TyreNovaSM technology.

“KBR has added tire recycling to its advanced recycling technologies portfolio and will offer integrated modularized solutions reusing end-of-life tires. This technology efficiently utilizes waste rubber from tires and converts it into a reusable feedstock for original supply chains and establishes a circular tire industry,” said Hari Ravindran, SVP and Global Head, Technology Solutions.

KBR has been a leader in process technology development, commercialization, and plant design solutions for over 50 years and has established its proficiency in commercializing emerging lab technologies with its engineering excellence.
