KBR to support $300 million wastewater upgrade in Sydney’s north-west
KBR, as part of the North West Hub Alliance (NWHA) with Sydney Water, John Holland and Stantec, will deliver the next scheme of wastewater treatment growth works in Sydney’s north-west, valued at AUD$300 million.
Expected to be completed by late 2029, the wastewater facilities upgrade is designed to meet the rapid population growth in the area, creating opportunity for an additional 200,000 new household connections.
In this second stage of works, the NWHA will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases for their North West Treatment Hub sites, which include Riverstone, Rouse Hill and Castle Hill Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs).

Scheme 2 builds on the strong progress already underway for Scheme 1, which includes significant upgrades being delivered across the North West Treatment Hub, including a new biosolids handling plant at Riverstone WRRF and enhancements at Rouse Hill WRRF. As part of these works, KBR is also leading an Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) V2.1 Silver rating - the first for a water infrastructure project in Australia. Further, our team is playing a central role in delivering innovative solutions to solve emerging challenges in the water sector. KBR will have the opportunity to share learnings from this cutting-edge work across the wider water industry.
