Petrochemicals

KBR has more than 60 years experience building plants and licensing process technology for the production of petrochemicals, which includes olefins and organic chemicals. Our selective cracking optimum recovery (SCORE™) technology, developed in conjunction with ExxonMobil, is a highly-efficient, reliable and cost-effective process for the production of ethylene. SUPERFLEX™ is a flexible proprietary technology unique among alternative propylene technologies for producing high yields of propylene using low-value chemicals. KBR recently commissioned the Sasol Synfuels Catalytic Cracker project in Secunda, South Africa. We also license a variety of technologies to transform raw materials into commodity chemicals such as phenol and aniline used in the production of consumer end products.

In all, we have licensed and designed over 800 petrochemical projects, and provided engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning/start-up (EPC-CS) services to more than 160 of these facilities. KBR has licensed, designed and/or constructed more than 30 percent of greenfield worldwide ethylene capacity since 1986. KBR was recently awarded SCORE™ technology and engineering, procurement construction and management (EPCM) for the world's largest ethylene plant for Saudi Kayan in Jubail City, Saudi Arabia.
