Technology

KBR has been delivering high yields and efficiency to its customers in the downstream energy space for over 80 years, when the M.W. Kellogg Company began serving customers in the hydrocarbon processing industry. KBR is one of the few leading engineering and construction companies to specialize in the development and licensing of process technologies for olefins, organic chemicals, refining, ammonia production and coal gasification, all founded on extensive research and development at its Technology Center. Hydrocarbon processing plants using KBR technology are recognized for their competitive cost, low energy consumption, safe operation and superior on-stream time.

KBR's technology expertise is demonstrated by its wide array of technology offerings and its long history of successfully delivering world class projects. KBR's high level of technical competence is reflected in the design and construction of more than 60 completed grassroots refineries and over 1,000 refining units of virtually every type and size. KBR has been involved in the licensing, design, engineering and/or construction of more than 200 ammonia plants worldwide, representing approximately half of the current global ammonia production. With more than 60 years experience building plants and licensing process technology for the production of petrochemicals, including olefins and organic chemicals, KBR has licensed and designed over 700 chemical plants, and more than 30 percent of the greenfield worldwide ethylene capacity since 1986.

With thousands of successful projects worldwide, KBR also combines its technology expertise with full engineering, procurement and construction services to help clients maximize the value of their assets which has become a critical factor as the world's supply of conventional oil and gas resources is being depleted. KBR technology continues to help customers transform low value hydrocarbons into high value products with processes that produce some of the highest yields, efficiencies and reliability available in the hydrocarbon processing industry.
