KBR Awarded FEED Contracts for ExxonMobil's Papua New Guinea LNG Project

KBR announced today that 'Eos', a 50/50 joint venture between KBR and WorleyParsons Services Pty Ltd has been awarded the front end engineering and design (FEED)contract for the upstream portion of the ExxonMobil-led Papua New Guinea (PNG) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project. KBR previously completed a pre-FEED study in Houston on the downstream/LNG Plant portion of the project.

ExxonMobil recently concluded key commercial agreements with co-venturers and the State of Papua New Guinea, paving the way for start of the FEED phase. Gas from the Hides, Angore, Juha fields and associated gas from the Kutubu oil fields in the Southern Highlands would be conditioned and transported more than 700 kilometers to a 6.3MTA LNG plant near Port Moresby. The first LNG cargo is targeted for 2013 - 2014.

The Eos joint venture will be executing the upstream FEED work program out of Brisbane with significant activity carried out in PNG as part of the development program.

"We are excited to play a key role in ExxonMobil's effort to make this world class LNG project a reality," said John Rose, KBR's President, Upstream.
