Gas to Liquids (GTL)

Gas to liquids (GTL) is a rapidly emerging technology that converts natural gas into premium liquid hydrocarbons, such as high-quality diesel fuels and lubricant base oils. GTL facilities are now in progress or being considered in gas-rich countries such as Algeria, Australia, Colombia, Nigeria, Qatar and Russia. The sheer size of GTL projects represents an order of magnitude in cost, scale, and resources which has never been seen before in the engineering and construction industry. The cost to build a large facility is substantial, and can require a peak construction workforce of 30,000 to 50,000 people. KBR brings to this market our proven global capabilities to complete extremely large, complex, technically challenging projects on schedule under the most rigorous conditions. Along with our gas alliance partner, JGC, we have established ourselves as leaders in the GTL market as we are involved in two of the three ongoing GTL projects around the world, namely the Escravos project in Nigeria and the Pearl project in Qatar.
