KBR is a leader in the petroleum refining market, having designed, engineered and constructed more than 50 greenfield refineries and over 1000 refining units, retrofits or upgrades since the 1950s. As the industry faces strong energy demand and the need to produce fuels that meet stringent environmental regulations from bottom of the barrel crudes, we are at the forefront of developing solutions to meet the challenges.

On the technology front, KBR offers key refining processes to transform low value crude oil into high value transportation fuels and petrochemical feedstocks such as propylene and ethylene. In a joint venture agreement with ExxonMobil, KBR offers Hydroprocessing and Fluid Catalytic Cracking Technologies. KBR is also a leader in heavy oil and tar sands through our differentiated resid upgrading Technologies which include our proprietary Residuum Oil Supercritical Extraction (ROSE™) coker and visbreaker technologies. This includes the Canadian oilsands market, which KBR supports locally through its Canadian operations known as KBR Canada.
