Ammonia Plant Revamps

KBR has carried out numerous revamp projects for ammonia plants. This includes 30 process revamps and 48 furnace revamps since 1990. The objective of the revamp has typically been to increase the plant capacity, to reduce the energy consumption, to reduce maintenance, to meet more stringent environmental standards, or a combination of these goals.

A revamp project is preceded by a study. The study includes a thorough plant evaluation to define the current operation. This serves as a reference point for the revamp. The study report identifies current bottlenecks, recommends the changes needed to meet the client's revamp targets, and estimates the cost and benefits of the revamp.
