Lo-NOx Countercurrent Regeneration

Air Grid and Spent Catalyst Distributor configuration

The FCC regenerator can be configured to promote low NOx emissions with KBR's Low NOx counter-current regeneration technology consisting of a patented self aerated spent catalyst distributor and a pipe air grid distributor. These counter-current regeneration features provide lower NOx emissions as well as uniform combustion in the catalyst bed, minimum flue gas afterburning, and less catalyst deactivation. Commercial data from over a dozen applications show that NOx emissions are 60-80% lower than in other types of FCC regenerator. Significant features of the counter current regeneration technology are:

  • Counter-current spent catalyst distributor
  • Pipe grid air distributor

REGENMAX™: Lower particulate emissions, reduced cyclone wear

An additional improvement to FCC regenerator emissions can be achieved with KBR's REGENMAX™ technology, which further enhances air to spent catalyst contact to significantly reduce entrainment, thereby lowering particulate emissions and reduces cyclone wear. Catalyst back mixing is also minimized with REGENMAX™ thus allowing for clean catalyst burning under partial CO combustion conditions.
